Dr. Hsiung received a Ph.D. degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University in 1998. Prior to that she received a Master of Science degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from University of Michigan in 1988, and she completed her Medical Family Therapy Internship at the Family Medicine Center in University of Rochester in 1997. She is an Approved Supervisor and Clinical Member in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. The four major themes of her research focus include instrument validation (e.g. stigma scale and quality of life questionnaires); quality of life research; longitudinal study and intervention study. Subject populations include people with mental disorders, people with HIV/AIDS and women with breast cancer. Her clinical experiences include to provide training and consultation to physicians and healthcare professionals relating to HIV/AIDS, heart failure, pulmonary diseases, and cancer, and to promote collaborative family-oriented healthcare. Other than providing direct personal and family therapy services to patients and their families, she also provides supervision to psychotherapists and supervisor-in-training. |
